Staff Spotlight: Meet Debbie, our Assistant Chef

When it comes to the ins and outs of running an aged care home, there are so many operations, plans, schedules and staff rosters which happen behind the scenes. The success of running Georges Estate is due to our team. It’s the long hours, dedication and experience which makes us a successful aged care provider in the Penshurst region. 

One of the people who helps with the daily operations of making sure our residents are well fed and full is Debbie. As the Assistant Chef, Debbie has been here since day one of opening, previously working in a nursing home, she is well aware of the food to be cooked and the type of dietary requirements and menu to follow. Her experience and knowledge of this particular cooking is why she was a stand out when we were hiring. 

Debbie was drawn to working at Georges Estate for the opportunity to work under her mentor Dimi and grow as a chef. A fun fact about Debbie is that she’s represented NSW playing softball and has also played cricket for NSW. 

While your loved one is staying hydrated and well fed, using the freshest ingredients and creating meals which are nutritionally balanced, this can be due to Debbie’s hard work, day in and day out, and of course her fantastic cooking skills.
