At Georges Estate we understand the varying needs, budgets and care requirements of our residents. Our modern approach to aged care reflects this, so we’ve created different care levels to choose from, making the move into aged care as seamless and stress free as possible. Providing excellent care is at the heart of everything we do and it’s important to us that you or your loved-one know you’re getting the care you deserve. We know care looks different for everyone, that’s why we offer permanent residential, respite or respite day care.
Here’s what you can expect;
Assessing Care Needs
The first step in accessing Aged Care services is receiving an ACAT assessment, which is an evaluation of the type of care you or your loved-one will need. You’ll be assessed on your health, mobility and care needs and then be recommended a service tailored just for you.
High and Low Care At Georges Estate we have 111-residential aged care beds for both high dependency and low care needs, that allow couples to live together even if they require different levels of care. Low level in-home care packages include domestic, shopping or social support, home podiatry or gardening assistance while intermediate to high level residential care includes personal care (numerous times daily), preparing meals, looking after medication, social support, transport and nursing.
Our home is purpose-designed so there are dedicated areas for people who have low care needs, who are more active and able to live more independently. We believe in whole-of-person care approach which means support your mental, physical and spiritual needs. We also have lifestyle and wellness programs to suit your needs.
Specialist Dementia Care
Dementia is caused by deterioration of the part of the brain that affects thinking, behaviour, and the ability to perform everyday activities. There are many different forms of dementia, and each has its own causes. There are four main types; and individuals require different levels of care depending on their symptoms and cognitive behaviours. At Georges Estate we are purpose built with a secure, dedicated dementia care wing and our staff are trained in dementia support. Our approach to dementia care includes activities that promote meaningful engagement, such as music and movement, which provide a sense of achievement improving our residents’ overall quality of life.
Respite Care
Another form of care we offer at Georges Estate is respite care. We know everyone needs a break now and then, including carers. Whether it is for a few hours, an overnight stay or several weeks, respite care can give you or your loved-one’s carer time for themselves.
We offer two types of respite care, day-stay, and residential respite care. During day respite, you or your loved-one can attend social and recreational activities at Georges Estate for a couple of hours during the day or for longer overnight stays. If you need a longer break, we also offer respite care for a couple of weeks or longer.
No matter what respite care option you choose it’s important that you or your loved-one feel comfortable with the service. We recommend paying us a visit to get a feel for who we are and what we do. You can see our staff in action and picture yourself staying or living here. Remember it’s important to ask lots of questions to make sure you feel comfortable with your choice.
