Our 111-bed, two-storey home is built in a suburb which is laid back, and you won’t be short of something to do for an outing when family and friends come to visit.

We always encourage family and friends to visit, whether it’s popping in for lunch or afternoon tea, or taking friends and family out for a day trip, discovering new sights and experiences together. From local eateries to parks for a perfect picnic, here are our top recommendations for an outing in Penshurst. We already love this suburb and here’s why you will too.

Coffee catch-up

New scenery and a chance to experience different surroundings is good for the soul, while helping with brain recognition and enhancing relationships. It’s wonderful to spend time with your loved one, making the most of one of the local cafes, located minutes from Georges Estate. You’ll find the perfect place to pull up a chair, order some coffee and cake and enjoy some quality time. This simple and easy-going activity will be the highlight of you and your loved one’s week.

Add these to your list for your next outing, all suitable for a dine-in or a takeaway treat:

South Pour Sydney

First on your list is a local café, an easy 300m from Georges Estate. A one-minute car ride makes this a convenient option for days where your loved one may want a stress-free morning trip or you only have a spare hour in the afternoon. Open seven days a week, head to this cosy café and enjoy perfectly brewed coffee and tuck into one of their sweet muffins. If you’re feeling a bit more peckish, their menu has a collection of tasty options.

Oregano Bakery

If you have a sweet tooth in the family then make sure you pay a visit to Oregano Bakery, a short 2.5km from Georges Estate. It’s a family bakery in the heart of Sydney’s south, known for its traditional Lebanese baked goods. People flock near and far to try their famous scrolls, swirled with delicious toppings like Nutella, caramel or plain icing – yum! Pop in on your way to Georges Estate and pick up some delights, paired with a coffee, and you have a 10/10 morning tea you can enjoy together in the home or a local park.

Short Black Espresso Bar

A two-minute drive from Georges Estate, Short Black Espresso is another option to make the most of the local coffee scene and create new memories and conversations with your loved one. Having been in the neighbourhood for 13 years bringing quality, homemade food each day, Short Black know what they’re doing when it comes to breakfast, coffee and burgers. Indulge in a sweet treat or share a brekky burger over your morning brew and you’ll all leave happy as Larry!

Parks for a perfect picnic or stroll

If the weekly forecast is looking glorious, or you want to take your goodies to Georges Estate from our suggestions above, here are our top tips for the parks which are close by to enjoy spending time together outdoors.

Penshurst Park

A three-minute drive from Georges Estate, Penshurst Park is the perfect outing, especially if you have the kids in tow. This large suburban park includes picnic facilities, an impressive play tower and numerous undercover areas to park up for the afternoon.

Olds Park

A large and popular sporting hub around the corner, this is a wide-open space where you’ll come across local pups, sporting games and club training. Take time to walk around the plush grass, or take a seat and watch the action, becoming involved in the local Penshurst community and all that it offers.

Moore Reserve After a five-minute drive, you’ll come across this 14.2 hectare park nestled in the suburbs, a reserve created in the 1960s by infilling with mud dredged from Oatley Bay. You’ll find BBQ facilities, benches, bathrooms, accessibility feature, play equipment and walking tracks. It’s a lovely spot to sit down, have a chat and take in the beautiful surroundings. Spot the flora and fauna and take in the beautiful open spaces.
